Why I Built Your News Headlines

I've always been a bit of a news junkie. I'm old enough to remember reading actual paper broadsheets, and I've always wanted to keep up with the big news stories.
Social media is usually awful for this. On Twitter, you'd often have to work backwards from some tweet discussing a news story just to figure out what had actually happened.
At one stage, I had several reputable news apps installed on my phone because I found that no single one covered all the big stories. But whenever something major happened, my phone would blow up with notifications from multiple apps, all reporting essentially the same thing.
That's where the idea for Your News Headlines came from.
The concept is pretty simple: the site collects headlines from major, reputable news sources and compares them. When multiple sources are reporting the same story, it groups them together and publishes a single headline.
The original idea was actually to make this a Twitter bot, but thankfully, I decided to stick with our own website instead.
Since then, we've added quite a few features, including email notifications, an Android app, topics, and plenty more.
But at its core, Your News Headlines is still about the same thing that inspired me to build it in the first place:
Getting the most important news right now, without all the noise.
